Flagship: Launch and Ribbon Cutting

About this Event

Join Monument Artist Immanuel Oni and the NJMML team for the launch of Flagship Sailbus on the Atlantic City boardwalk. Inspired by a year’s worth of multigenerational conversations and programs with community stakeholders in Millville, Bridgeton, Seabrook, Port Norris, Roebling, and Atlantic City, Flagship brings to life the stories of labor and migration that define South Jersey’s past, and its present.

To further animate the completed installation, Oni will lead participants in art activities designed to bring to life Atlantic City’s “sites of memory,” and to reflect on the buildings and businesses that played host to Black migrants and immigrants who arrived in Atlantic City in the early twentieth century. Oni will also work with participants to create art that recognizes Atlantic City’s dynamic, changing population, and the Bangladeshi, Mexican, and Vietnamese immigrants who have come to the city more recently.
