Bound Together: Celebrating Immigrant Labor in Paterson

/ Collage / Handwriting / Photography / Print

We gathered across the street from the Great Falls of Paterson where the industrial revolution began in the United States. For three hours I listened to historians, immigrants, labor and community leaders—voices rooted in care and solidarity—each story revealing the vital roles immigrant labor has played in shaping Paterson.

Centered around a powerful quote from the dialogue, the design folds into pages that reveal essential jobs—each meaningful on its own, and even stronger when seen together. As the pages flip, they form a unified book, symbolizing how every page, like the labor of each individual, helps bind our communities. This layered piece reflects the understanding that strength lies in connection—that it is our relationships, shared histories, and collective labor that bind us all together.
